Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated nine new Vande Bharat Express trains today, enhancing connectivity across eleven states: Kerala, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Odisha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Gujarat. During the launch, PM Modi expressed that the demand for Vande Bharat Express is surging, and it won’t be long before these new trains connect every corner of the country. Indian Railways has asserted that these trains will be the swiftest on their respective routes, significantly reducing travel time for passengers.

The Vande Bharat Express, a semi-high-speed train capable of reaching 160 kmph, is fully air-conditioned and equipped with comfortable chair cars. However, due to speed restrictions on Indian Railways’ tracks, these trains do not operate at their maximum speed. Each of the nine new Vande Bharat trains comprises eight coaches. Among them is the inaugural Orange Vande Bharat Express, serving the Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram route. Let’s delve into the details of these nine new routes, their schedules, and stops.

1. Train number 20666, Tirunelveli – Chennai Egmore Vande Bharat Express, departs from Tirunelveli at 6:00 AM, reaching Chennai Egmore at 1:50 PM. The return journey, Train number 20665, departs Chennai at 2:50 PM and arrives in Tirunelveli at 10:40 PM, making stops at Virudunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruchchirappalli, Villupuram, and Tambaram. The train runs every day except Tuesday.
2. Train number 20677, MGR Chennai – Vijayawada Vande Bharat Express, departs from Chennai at 5:30 AM, arriving in Vijayawada at 12:10 PM. The return journey, Train number 20678, departs Vijayawada at 3:20 PM and reaches MGR Chennai at 10:00 PM, making stops at Renigunta, Nellore, Ongole, and Tenali. These new Vande Bharat trains boast 25 enhancements, including optimized cushion hardness, extended footrests in Executive Chair Cars, pleasant blue seat colors, improved toilet lighting, better roller blind fabric, and deeper washbasins to prevent water splashing, among other improvements. With the addition of these nine trains, the total number of Vande Bharat train services in the Indian Railways network now stands at 68.
