With a range of up to 1200 kilometers on a single charge, the Bestune Xiaoma mini EV by China’s First Auto Works (FAW) is poised to make a significant impact in the micro-EV market. This electric vehicle, introduced under the Bestune brand, is set to launch this month, as reported by Live Hindustan.
The FAW Bestune Xiaoma is gearing up to compete head-to-head with the immensely popular Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, currently dominating the microcar segment in China. The Bestune Xiaoma comes with a price range of 30,000 to 50,000 Yuan, approximately ₹3.47 lakh to ₹5.78 lakh.Initially unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April this year, the Bestune Xiaoma made an appearance in both hardtop and convertible variants.
However, for now, only the hardtop version will be available, with the possibility of the convertible edition making its debut at a later, undetermined date. Inside, the car boasts a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an aesthetically pleasing dual-tone theme on the dashboard.
The Xiaomi Small Electric showcases a distinctive boxy profile adorned with a dual-tone color scheme, imparting a playful and animated aesthetic. Noteworthy design elements include sizable square headlamps with rounded corners and aerodynamic wheels aimed at optimizing its range.
The car’s rear maintains a harmonious design theme, complete with matching tail lamps and bumper.Underpinning the Bestune Xiaoma is the Xiaoma FME platform, which incorporates a dedicated chassis designed for EV and range extender models. This FME platform encompasses two sub-platforms, A1 and A2, engineered to accommodate vehicles with varying wheelbases.
The EV variant offers an impressive range of over 800 kilometers, while the extender model boasts an even more remarkable range of 1200 kilometers. Both platforms support an 800 V architecture.Powering this micro-EV is a single 20 kW electric motor situated on the rear axle. The vehicle comes equipped with a lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery sourced from Goshan and REPT. Detailed specifications about the powertrain have yet to be disclosed.
In terms of safety, the Bestune Xiaomi includes a driver-side airbag and features a 3-door configuration. The car’s dimensions measure 3000mm in length, 1510mm in width, 1630mm in height, and a wheelbase of 1,953mm.
